U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), an incumbent running for reelection, will host a town hall meeting Wednesday in Westlake Village to address issues before Congress.

“I’ve been invited by some constituents to declare these town halls Monica-free zones,” Sherman said, adding that he wants to focus on issues that directly affect residents of the San Fernando and Conejo valleys, and not on President Clinton’s relationship with former White House intern Monica S. Lewinsky.

Sherman, who represents parts of the west San Fernando Valley and east Ventura County, said he expects to discuss foreign policy and terrorism; Social Security, Medicare, and health care reform, and federal aid for education.

The congressman said he will speak for about 20 minutes and then open the floor to questions on issues from the audience.

Sherman will host another town hall meeting Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center, 18321 Clark St. in Tarzana.

Wednesday’s meeting, which is free, begins at 7 p.m. at White Oak Elementary School, 31761 Village School Road.
