Man Admits to Sex With Adult Daughter

A Santa Paula man faces two years in prison after pleading guilty to repeatedly fondling and having intercourse with his adult daughter, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Alfredo Gonzales, 43, pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to two counts of felony incest involving his now 20-year-old daughter, authorities said. He remained in custody at Ventura County Jail on Wednesday night pending sentencing Sept. 9.

Gonzales was arrested early this month after the victim told police her father had been coming to her bedroom in the family’s Santa Paula home and engaging in sexual acts with her several times a week for nearly two years.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors have agreed to drop two additional incest charges that could have exposed Gonzales to several years in prison, Deputy Dist. Atty. Thomas Temple said.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies outside the county are investigating Gonzales, a laborer who worked in Camarillo, on suspicion of committing crimes against his other children, Temple said.

At least one more adult daughter and Gonzales’ wife were living at the Santa Paula house when the incest occurred, and Temple said there are also minor children in the family. Their residences were unknown.

“They’ve lived all over the place and they’ve moved quite a lot,” Temple said.

In the last 10 years, the family has moved six times to cities between Northern California and Mexico, Temple said. The adult children have since moved out of the house and Gonzales and his wife are estranged, Temple said.
