Connecticut Repeats History
For the second time in Division I history, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Connecticut are ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press polls.
Connecticut is the only major school to hold the top rank in both polls at the same time, first doing it Feb. 13, 1995.
After a week that saw 10 ranked men’s teams suffer their first loss of the season, Connecticut (4-0) climbed one spot to No. 1. The Huskies, who received 52 first-place votes and 1,751 points from a national media panel, will play two ranked teams this week--No. 15 Washington tonight and No. 9 Michigan State Saturday.
The Connecticut women (5-0) earned 37 of 41 first-place votes and 1,020 points from a national media panel.
