The program creates a custom font which can reproduce your handwriting, exactly the way you shape and connect (or don’t connect) your letters.

“Everything nowadays is computer generated. But we wanted to put a little personality back into written communication,” says Dave Fenwick, creator and president of Signature Software Inc. Since the Oregon-based company began selling the software in 1992, it has received more than 50,000 orders, he says.

To order, customers send a writing sample of each lower case and upper case letter, and punctuation. Software is mailed in about three weeks.
