Space Station
The latest cost estimate for building the International Space Station has soared to $96 billion, mostly from the U.S. (editorial, Nov. 29). The agency claims that the station “is going to benefit humankind . . . in ways we don’t [yet] know.” But the money could be spent to benefit mankind in ways we do know, such as saving Social Security, the environment, education, health care for the uninsured, feeding the 30 million Americans who face hunger, etc.
