New Master Plan for Cal Lutheran OKd

Share

The City Council should approve Cal Lutheran University’s plan to update and expand its campus through 2014, the city Planning Commission has unanimously recommended.

The university’s master plan will be considered for final approval by the City Council at its next meeting in January.

In the meantime, the commission has required Cal Lutheran to provide the city with additional information on its parking plans. And, due to the concerns of residents living nearby, the university must file an application for permission to build faculty housing.

Despite the additional requirements, the university’s overall plan is sound and will not hurt the surrounding community, Planning Commission Chairman Ronald Polanski said.

Over the next 20 years, CLU plans to more than double the university’s facilities.

The improvements will accommodate 2,200 undergraduate and 1,400 graduate students with room for 1,500 students to live on campus.
