Strickland Named to GOP Task Force
Assemblyman Tony Strickland (R-Oxnard) was among 12 Republicans appointed this week to a GOP education task force by Assembly Republican leader Rod Pacheco (R-Riverside).
“I am ecstatic,” Strickland said Wednesday. “One of my main focuses in the campaign, and quite frankly the one message we heard from the voters in November, is we need to improve our public education system.”
The task force will meet this month and introduce its legislative proposals on improving accountability, school safety and teacher competency. Assemblyman George Runner (R-Lancaster) will chair the group.
He and the rest of the Assembly members are awaiting their assignments. Strickland said he would like to serve on the higher-education and agriculture panels.
