About 20 residents advocating a no-kill animal shelter have requested the City Council to act. Led by Lido Isle resident Christine Morgan, Tailwaggers Adoption Group Services has gathered more than 1,000 signatures and has about 40 people ready to help the city build and operate its own shelter.

Councilman John E. Noyes Jr. asked that a report be brought back answering some of the questions the group had about the city’s shelter, run out of the Dover Shores Pet Care Center in Costa Mesa. The report will include a list of options for the city, including building its own shelter, using a different city’s shelter or staying with the existing program.
