Kenny Brunner, a former Fresno State recruit suspected of threatening a man with a Samurai sword, is off the hook after a judge dismissed four felony counts.

“I think this started out as a bunch of horsing around by people who were doing a lot of drinking,” Fresno County Judge Michael Feinberg said Wednesday. “It turned into something where the parties were acting very foolish, and it got out of hand.”

“I’m just happy that it’s all over with,” said Brunner, who attends Santa Monica College.

Brunner said he hopes to return to Fresno State to play basketball, but Coach Jerry Tarkanian said that won’t happen.

“He can’t come back here. It wouldn’t be smart for him,” Tarkanian said.
