Portland Powers Past San Jose

Debra Williams scored 22 points as the Portland Power defeated the San Jose Lasers, 94-85, Sunday in an American Basketball League game before 4,218 at San Jose.

DeLisha Milton and Natalie Williams each added 20 points for the Power. Milton also had a game-high 15 rebounds. The Lasers were lead by Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil’s 25 points and eight rebounds. Jennifer Azzi added 18 points.

The victory gave Portland a one-game lead over San Jose in the Western Conference.

The Lasers led, 45-42, at halftime, but the Power used a 9-0 run at the beginning of the third quarter to take a lead they never relinquished.

Nashville 80, Seattle 73--Reserve Lauretta Freeman scored a career-high 20 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Noise at Nashville, Tenn., for its first victory over an ABL Western Conference team.

Michelle Marciniak had 19 points, four assists and four steals for Nashville. Shalonda Enis had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Seattle before 2,072.

Seattle led 61-60 midway through the fourth quarter after a three-pointer by Angela Aycock. But Nashville went on a 9-3 run in the next three minutes and clinched the victory on four free throws by Falisha Wright.

Colorado 66, Chicago 57--Edna Campbell scored 18 points and Tari Phillips had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Xplosion at Denver.

Yolanda Griffith led Chicago with 19 points and 25 rebounds before 2,075.

Philadelphia 77, Columbus 70--Lakeshia Frett had 13 points and 11 rebounds to go along with Teresa Edwards’ team-high 18 points to lead the Rage before 1,671 at Philadelphia.

Shannon Johnson’s 19 points and seven assists led Colorado.
