Oceanfront Resort Developers Seek Changes

The owners of the planned Long Point resort in Rancho Palos Verdes will seek permission to build 95 attached and detached homes and expand the golf course to 18 holes from nine, according to Jim York, managing general partner of York Long Point Associates. York said the group will present its planned changes to the city of Rancho Palos Verdes and the California Coastal Commission early next year. Government approval is expected by the end of 1999, with the project scheduled to open 2 1/2 years later. Owners of 75 attached residences will be able to rent them to resort guests and can order room service from the project’s 400-room hotel, York said. The entire project--to be built on the site of the former Marineland amusement park--is expected to cost $210 million.
