To expand its service division, Tustin-based Scantron Corp. said Tuesday that it acquired a Florida computer maintenance and system integration company for an undisclosed sum.

Scantron, known for its testing forms that have been used by schools for decades, recently has been expanding into online educational and Web-based software programs.

The company said it picked up Equitrac Computer Services because it specializes in upgrading and integrating different computer systems.

Equitrac, a division of Coral Gables, Fla.-based Equitrac Corp., has more than 300 customers nationwide and has $5.5 million in annual revenues, company officials said.

The company will augment Scantron’s already existing service group, which is based in Omaha, Neb.

No layoffs are expected, company officials said.

Scantron is a wholly owned subsidiary of John Harland Co., an Atlanta-based maker of computer systems that collect and manage data.
