SAN CLEMENTE

The Boys and Girls Club’s annual Christmas party was a roaring success as 28 Marines from Camp Pendleton barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers for about 300 children and teenagers Tuesday. The Marines, who volunteered their time, also teamed up with kids to play pingpong, Fooseball and pool.

Children waited in line to tell Santa and Mrs. Claus what they wanted for Christmas. Omar Mendoza, 9, of San Clemente asked for a bike, while Victoria Baker, 9, of San Clemente asked for “lots of candy.” A couple of young capitalists asked for a million dollars.
