Seasonal Workers

Re “ ‘Tis the Season to Be Jolly--and Lose the Walkman,” Commentary, Dec. 16: Perhaps if seasonal workers were paid more than minimum wage, treated better by their co-workers, who never treat temporary help as well as they treat the permanent staff, and were actually given more than approximately five minutes of training before they were sent out on the floor, they would do a better job. Oh, yeah, and being treated by the customers as if they were subhuman and too stupid to be on the other side of the counter doesn’t help either.
