COVINA — Santa arrived a little early this year for a Covina single mother who was the lucky winner of a free car in a Los Angeles Mission drawing.
Kristin Emmons, a mother of three, won the 1990 Mercury Sabre on Tuesday in a drawing hosted by the Mission’s Vehicle Donation and Resale Program, which reconditions and sells donated automobiles to support the organization’s services to the needy.
“I feel so blessed,” said Emmons, an elder-care worker. She has been using the bus to get to the homes of seniors and to transport her children.
Emmons was one of 275 single mothers nominated for the drawing by a local agency or church.
