A Florida-based religious organization is accepting requests for help through Jan. 19 from Orange County residents in need.

The Voice of God Ministry in Boca Raton has given money to the needy for the past five years, said Jeannine Langheier, a volunteer with the group.

The nonprofit, nondenominational Christian group broadcasts a nationwide television show called “The Greatest Gift”; it features people the ministry has helped financially or spiritually.

The group has provided rent money for a woman in Indiana who lost her job shortly after adopting two girls, has helped a Florida man pay for treatment for his cocaine addiction and has aided many others as well, Langheier said.

Applicants may write the ministry at P.O. Box 971501, Boca Raton, FL 33497. Those seeking help must explain how they will use the money or service requested, swear to the truth of the request and demonstrate that they have no other source of help.

Hollywood producer Jack Levine started the group to provide help directly to those in need, Langheier said. The ministry spends only 10% of donations on administration, she said.
