An Iowa State basketball player was charged with public intoxication and simple assault after police were called to a fast-food restaurant in Ames, Iowa.

Travis Spivey, a 20-year-old a sophomore transfer from Georgia Tech, is sitting out this season.

Police were called shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The manager said Spivey and four other men were being disorderly and when an employee asked them to leave, only three did.
