Lift and Separate

You might call them the Wonder Bras of the cosmetics world--mascaras that curl as well as lengthen and darken lashes.

Earlier this year L’Oreal introduced Le Grande Curl, and Lanco^me, which is owned by the same company, also came out with Extencils Dramatic Length Curling Mascara.

We figured they’ve been out long enough to ask for a quick review from a few professionals.

Kevin Barry, a freelancer and makeup artist at Jim Wayne Salon in Beverly Hills, gives Le Grande Curl a thumbs up.

“I think it’s a very, very clever product,” Barry says. And, used with a lash curler, he says it produces “something you’ve never seen before.”

The result is an eye-opener, but if you’re looking for a thicker lash look, Barry suggests you experiment with other products.

Collier Strong, makeup artist with Cloutier, doesn’t use Le Grande Curl because he doesn’t like the brush. Instead, he uses L’Oreal Lash Out and Voluminous mascaras.

“With a good eyelash curler [Strong prefers Shiseido], you’re in business.”
