Sex Scandals: Washington may have Interngate, but the San Fernando Valley has its own lurid connections. The 13-year-old girl whose tender age led film director Roman Polanski to flee the country in the 1970s was from Woodland Hills. More recently, the Rev. Donn Moomaw, a nationally known clergyman, was disciplined for sexual misconduct while pastor of prestigious Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Encino.

Divine Love: She said she was practicing the world’s oldest religion. But police said Mary Ellen Tracy, above, was engaged in the world’s oldest profession. The Canyon Country resident, who said she “converted” some 2,000 men during her ministry, was convicted of prostitution in 1989.

Puppy Love: Linda Tripp made audiotapes of Monica Lewinsky’s tales of White House trysts. In 1994, a Van Nuys dog owner videotaped an encounter between his gardener and his German shepherd, Bubu. Police hadn’t believed him at first. The gardener was convicted in 1995 of sexually abusing the pet and placed on three years’ probation.

Burbank Pass: And who can forget Salle Dumm, the former president of the Burbank Educational Foundation, who was accused of seducing a high school athlete with offers of financial support for his team? Dumm was acquitted in 1996 of criminal charges after jurors said they were hopelessly deadlocked.
