Semtech Opens Design Center in Scotland

Newbury Park-based Semtech Corp. has opened a European design center in Glasgow, Scotland.

Semtech officials said the center will focus on integrated circuit development to expand the company’s line of communications and computer products. The location was picked to take advantage of Scotland’s reputation for having the largest concentration of electronics designers in Europe, the officials said.

With an initial staff of five, the center hopes to employ more than two dozen design engineers within two or three years.

Semtech designs and manufactures integrated circuits used in testing and measurement devices, as well as communications, computer, video and industrial equipment.
