Marketing to the Latino community will be the theme of a special luncheon meeting of the San Fernando Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday in Granada Hills.

Ray Durazo, president of the Los Angeles advertising agency Durazo Communications, will be the featured speaker at the meeting to be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Odyssey restaurant.

Durazo, whose agency has represented clients ranging from the state of California’s antismoking campaign and ARCO to GTE and the Bank of America, said his presentation will focus on “what makes the Hispanic consumer tick.”

“We are going to try to get inside the head of the Hispanic market and look at what their priorities are and what their preferences are,” Durazo said.

It is the second consecutive year that the chamber has held a meeting to offer its members and other Valley business owners insights into what works and what doesn’t in reaching out to Latino customers, said chamber spokesman Joe Sandoval.

“That’s the market that is here and that comes here, so you need to know how to attract that business to be successful,” Sandoval said. “Last year we looked at demographic trends and the buying power of that segment of the community.”

The cost of the luncheon is $16. The Odyssey restaurant is at 15600 Odyssey Drive in Granada Hills.
