But First, This Hot Pink News: When the Winnetka 20 Theater opens today in Chatsworth, it will be the first place to sell Pink’s hot dogs and chili dogs outside the landmark Hollywood hot dog stand since Pink’s opened nearly 60 years. At today’s grand opening ceremonies, the first Pink’s hot dog will be delivered in a pink automobile driven by star look-alikes. And no, you don’t have to buy a movie ticket in order to buy a hot dog--the managment welcomes Pink’s-only customers.

Now, More Heart-Shaped Valentine’s Stuff: Victor Hodd’s in West Hollywood has a bittersweet chocolate heart cake for two as one of its dessert choices in a $45 prix-fixe three-course meal. If you choose that dessert and find a plastic heart in your cake, you can come back with your sweetie for a complimentary dinner on another night. Aphrodisiac Dinners: Zov’s Bistro in Tustin has a menu tailored to increase sexual energy, it says here. The dishes include oysters, escargots and chocolate as well as lesser known aphrodisiacs such as nutmeg. Nutmeg? The myristicin in it heightens the senses. Border Grill is turning up the heat for Valentine’s Day with specials like quail in rose petal sauce (anybody read “Like Water for Chocolate”?), oysters with chipotle salsa, tongue stew and rose petal ice cream. Their contribution to the heart-shaped food category is the real thing, skewered beef hearts, and ladies will receive complimentary heart-shaped cookies at the end of the meal.

Plain Old Indulgences: C bar on Wilshire in Beverly Hills is offering a choice of two prix-fixe dinners for Valentiners, both costing $140 per couple. You can either have the Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne, the golden caviar dip, an ounce of Osetra caviar, two courses and dessert, or go for the wildly extravagant Veuve Cliquot yellow label champagne, an ounce of Beluga, an ounce of Sevruga, no courses, and dessert. Stay overnight at the Peninsula Beverly Hills in a Villa Suite (those are the ones with Jacuzzis and fireplaces) and you can have champagne, fresh flowers and breakfast in your room for a mere $1,000 a night. While you’re there, you can wander into the Belvedere Restaurant for the five-course Valentine dinner that includes foie gras, lobster, and truffle port sabayon. Eat a Little, Give a Little: After Valentine’s Day, if you’re in a generous mood, go have dinner at Spencers Restaurant in Pasadena. Everyone who eats there from 6 p.m. until closing Feb. 17 will be giving a little something to the Sycamores, a nonprofit child welfare agency. Spencers is donating 10% of the profits for that evening to the charity. In fact, every Tuesday evening, Spencers donates 10% of its profits to one charity. You can call the restaurant to find out which charities are being honored on future Tuesday Charity Nights.

New Life for Old Drai: The old Drai’s Cafe in Beverly Hills has been purchased by Cesare Vietina, son of restaurateur Bruno Vietina (Madeo, Maito) and will be turned into an upscale Italian restaurant. Vietina hopes to open in about a month.

The End of the Wu Dynasty: Madame Wu will be closing Madame Wu’s Garden after 36 years in business. Your last chance to eat there will be Feb. 15. She has found a buyer for her space on Wilshire Boulevard, so her doors are closing after dinner on that night.

And Speaking of El Nin~o: Twin Palms in Pasadena is doing something to make the rain less annoying. If you venture out there on a stormy night to dine while listening to “rain tapping on the sails” (as they put it), you’ll be given a Rain Check. The Rain Check is a coupon for a second lunch free with the purchase of a lunch. Not a bad incentive for getting your hair wet.
