School Attendance Report to Be Unveiled
Moorpark Unified School District officials plan to announce tonight the results of a survey that asked parents what special programs would induce them to voluntarily send their children to the new Walnut Canyon School.
The report is significant because it will be one of the items school trustees will examine in deciding how to redraw the attendance boundaries for the fall.
If there is enough interest in sending students to the new school on Casey Road, trustees have said fewer students may have to be shifted.
The proposal to change boundaries to maintain ethnic balance has drawn criticism from residents who want to keep their children in neighborhood schools and avoid busing.
The survey results will be announced during the 6 p.m. board meeting at the Moorpark High School library on 4500 Tierra Rejada Road.
