Dominic R. Palmieri Jr.; Cinematographer for TV’s ‘MASH’

Dominic Richard Palmieri Jr., a cinematographer who worked for 13 years on television’s landmark series “MASH,” has died. He was 58.

Palmieri died of cancer Feb. 2 at his home in central Florida.

Born in Schenectady, N.Y., Palmieri attended film school at the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. His first studio job was loading film.

He worked his way up to camera operator and eventually became director of photography for the “MASH” series starring Alan Alda.

Palmieri moved to Florida in 1990 to work in the film industry there and teach at the University of Central Florida.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 10750 Ohio St., Westwood. Memorial donations can be sent to the Leukemia Society of America, Central Florida Chapter, 3101 Maguire Blvd., Suite 225, Orlando, FL 32803.
