New Millennium

Undoubtedly the new millennium begins on Jan. 1, 2001 (letter, Feb. 4). Undoubtedly billions of people will incorrectly celebrate Jan. 1, 2000, as the beginning of the millennium. Undoubtedly we will be forced to endure endless more letters to the editor lamenting this irrelevant fact and publicly chastising anyone who makes this completely insignificant mistake.

For my part, I am simply going to pretend there was a year 0 and celebrate the fact that I get to write “00” on my checks. Problem solved. Now get on with your lives.
