LAX Ranks 29th in Survey of 36 U.S. Airports

Detroit Metropolitan Airport ranks last, Tampa, Fla.’s airport is best and Los Angeles International Airport is 29th among the nation’s 36 top airports, according to a passenger survey. In four of eight categories--speed of baggage delivery, ease of reaching gates, availability of ground transportation and ease of following signs--Metro Airport earned the lowest scores in the survey of about 90,000 passengers. The private survey by Los Angeles-based Plog Research Inc. was commissioned by the 36 airports. Passengers were surveyed in the first six months of last year. The report became public on Monday. Following Tampa’s airport in the survey’s top five were, in order, Pittsburgh; Charlotte, N.C.; Nashville; and Denver. Other California airports included in the survey were Oakland (No. 15), San Francisco (21) and Sacramento (22).
