A baby boy, above, born from an embryo frozen for 7 1/2 years makes an appearance during a news conference Tuesday at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center. The embryo was conceived in 1990, placed in a freezer and implanted in his mother’s womb eight months ago. The length of time the embryo remained frozen is considered to be one of the longest periods on record. The 8-pound, 15-ounce boy was delivered by Caesarean section at the hospital on Monday.
