Zamora on Suicide Watch After Injury
Former Naval Academy midshipman Diane Zamora was put on suicide watch hours after she was convicted of capital murder in the slaying of a teenage romantic rival. Commander James Skidmore of the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth said Zamora, 20, suffered a superficial wound when she cut her left arm with a razor blade in her cell overnight. She was placed on a round-the-clock suicide watch for her own safety. “She stopped the bleeding herself and concealed the injury for several hours,” before a psychologist discovered the wound, Skidmore said. Defense psychologist Michael Lobb testified during Zamora’s trial that she is suicidal. Zamora was sentenced to life in prison for her part in the death of Adrianne Jones in 1995.
