SUPER SUNDAY: Jewish Federation hopes to raise $4 million with the help of 5,000 volunteers who will participate in phone-a-thons, help with food services and clerical tasks for Super Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jewish Federation-Valley Alliance, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR: The Sisterhood of Temple Judea will present its 30th annual free interfaith program featuring community leader and national figure Renee Firestone, who will discuss her life as a Holocaust survivor at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the temple, 5429 Lindley Ave., Tarzana. Born in Czechoslovakia, Firestone lost most of her family while imprisoned in Auschwitz for 13 months. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1948 with her husband and young daughter, and went on to lead a successful career in fashion design and manufacturing. Firestone currently serves on boards of Jewish organizations, including the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Information: (818) 788-4981.

HEALING SERVICE: Temple Judea, 5429 Lindley Ave., Tarzana, will hold a service for physical, emotional and spiritual healing at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The evening of prayer, song and meditation hopes to give respite to people dealing with loss, caring for an ill loved one or those seeking renewed inner strength and spirituality. SCHOLAR WEEKEND: Temple Beth Hillel, 12326 Riverside Drive, North Hollywood, will offer a Scholar-in-Residence Weekend on “Bringing Life to Tradition, Bringing Tradition to Life” with scholar Rabbi Debra Orenstein, starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continuing through Feb. 28. The Friday night lecture deals with the life cycle, family and spirituality; Saturday’s sessions explore Jewish identity and traditions. Orenstein is a senior fellow of the Wilstein Institute of Jewish Policy Studies, an instructor at University of Judaism and the creator of the “Lifecycles” book series on women in Jewish life.
