KnowledgeLINK to Use Synthonics’ 3-D Software

Share

Synthonics Technologies has licensed Rapid Virtual Reality, an imaging technology used to create three-dimensional models of any object or environment, to KnowledgeLINK, a developer of online buying systems.

Both companies are based in Westlake Village.

KnowledgeLINK will use Synthonics software to create interactive 3-D images of client products and add them to Web sites the company develops--many of which include Internet-based online catalogs and electronic storefronts.

“KnowledgeLINK has been seeking technologies that will dramatically enhance the online buying experience,” said Sunil Mehrotra, the company’s president and chief executive officer. “By incorporating Synthonics’ 3-D software tools into our [products], our clients will be able to offer their customers a one-of-a-kind, knowledgeable online buying experience that will increase their comfort level when making major purchases on the Internet.”

Customers accessing a Web site designed by KnowledgeLINK will be able to examine products as if they were in a store, with the added advantage of being able to insert the 3-D model of the product into a digital representation of their home environment, Mehrotra said.

Synthonics expects the KnowledgeLINK alliance to increase demand for its 3-D tools within the electronic commerce industry.
