Mental Health Clinic Adds Services in New Facility
A mental health clinic that has been providing low-income patients with services from a crowded church hall for nearly a decade moved into its own headquarters Tuesday and as a result has expanded its services, officials said.
The Didi Hirsch Mental Health Center, which has 14 clinics in the Los Angeles area that provide mental health and substance abuse programs, moved into a 5,000-square-foot space in the Gardena Medical Plaza on Redondo Beach Boulevard. The center, which serves about 100 people per week, had previously been located on 165th Street.
The new space includes several conference rooms, private therapy offices and a lounge. The center also has a kitchen where daily meals for low-income patients will be prepared.
“This is the realization of a dream for us,” said Ray Mungo, care coordinator of the center. “We’re now in a more visible space and will be able to provide help to more people.”
