Boris Becker to Appear in Mercedes Spots

A German newspaper is reporting that three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker will be featured in advertisements for the upcoming relaunch of Daimler-Benz’s troubled Mercedes A-Class line. Ads featuring the tennis star were scheduled to begin this week in German newspapers. Daimler-Benz halted production of the A-Class line last year after tests showed the car had a tendency to flip over. The unstable performance was an embarrassment for Daimler-Benz, which had conducted a long, expensive ad campaign to introduce the new car. The company says a redesign has solved the safety problem. In one ad, Becker says, “I have often learned more from my defeats than from my success.” In another: “To make no mistakes is strong. To learn from your mistakes is stronger.”
