Milestone Due for Hispanic Radio Network

Share

Next month, the Hispanic Radio Network will set a milestone. The Washington-based network will launch a call-in program broadcast to all Spanish-speaking countries in the Western Hemisphere, except Cuba. Mundo 2000 is a one-hour weekly program about science, technology, health care and the environment.

“What makes it unique is that the show will include a call-in number that can be accessed from any point with a telephone in the Western Hemisphere,” said Javier Sierra, the network’s managing editor.

The show will be carried by KDIF-AM (1440), which is based in Riverside County but can be heard in Santa Ana and other parts of Orange County. “The sampling I got was enough to convince me it’s good for our community,” said Gilberto Esquivel, the station’s general manager. “The Latino community has very few sources for information,” he said.
