Exhibition, Lecture on Buddhist Art Set

“Sacred and Sublime,” an exhibition of Buddhist art from India and the Himalayas, will be on view at Sotheby’s Beverly Hills headquarters Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The works on display are highlights of an auction of Indian, Himalayan and Southeast Asian art to be held March 26 at Sotheby’s New York.

In conjunction with the Beverly Hills show, Pratapaditya Pal--a leading scholar who was the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s chief curator of Indian and Southeast Asian collections from 1970-95 and is now a visiting curator at the Art Institute of Chicago and a fellow at the Norton Simon Museum--will give a lecture, “Mystics, Monks and Mandalas: Buddhist Art From the Himalayas” on Monday at 6 p.m.
