Tough Rules Imposed on Adult Businesses

Share

The City Council gave final approval this week to an ordinance that imposes tough rules on workers in the adult entertainment industry.

Under the new law, exotic dancers, lingerie models and their bosses will have to apply for licenses and pass a criminal background check before they can work in the city.

The new rules also prohibit the businesses from operating near schools, neighborhoods, playgrounds, places of worship and cemeteries.

The law also prevents adult businesses from “clustering” in one area of the city.

New adult businesses must meet all the requirements before opening.

Existing adult-only store owners have six months to get employees licensed and up to three years to relocate if their building is within 300 feet of “sensitive-use” areas.
