McKinney Defense Offers an Alibi

From Times Wire Reports

Lawyers for the Army’s former top enlisted man presented evidence indicating he was changing his oil about the time prosecutors say he forced himself on a pregnant subordinate. But prosecutors say Sgt. Maj. Gene C. McKinney doctored the records of the do-it-yourself auto repair shop once he found out he was being investigated for sexual misconduct. The only reason McKinney was not charged with obstruction of justice for trying to fabricate an alibi is because the evidence surfaced only recently, an Army lawyer said at McKinney’s court-martial at Ft. Belvoir. McKinney, 47, is accused of sexual assault and harassment by six female soldiers.
