As potboilers go, the lurid Diana Haun murder trial was one for the ages.

And not just because a jury decided that a tawdry sex affair led to the decapitation of dedicated wife and mother Sherri Dally by her husband’s lover.

The September murder conviction of the 36-year-old grocery clerk stood out because jurors concluded that Haun was less evil than her accused conspirator and never would have killed had she not been duped by Michael Dally to avoid a costly divorce.

“She was a gal under the influence of that turkey Michael Dally,” said juror Bert Walker, a tile store owner.

So jurors sent Haun to prison with no possibility of parole.

But they spared her life.

Jury selection is underway in the trial of Dally--depicted by Haun prosecutors as a dead-end, drug-using clerk who preyed on weak women and bought sex from prostitutes.

A defense attorney says Dally is a better person than suggested so far, and that Haun acted alone.

A verdict is expected by April.
