Training in Library Skills Available

Share

At-risk students can receive library skills training in early 1998, thanks to an $8,000 federal grant.

The 10-week Junior Information Navigator Program will introduce up to a dozen students to traditional reference sources, such as the World Book Encyclopedia, and high-tech reference tools such as the World Wide Web.

Training sessions will convene at Oxnard’s public libraries and the Frank School Library. The aim of the training is to help students develop research skills they can use for homework assignments and studying.

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a Junior Information Professional diploma and will be invited to assist library patrons with research at local branches.
