Headlands Project on Planners’ Agenda

Share

Planning commissioners will work overtime this week, holding back-to-back meetings starting with a regularly scheduled session tonight.

On Thursday, a special meeting on the Headlands will deal with traffic issues surrounding revised plans for the proposed development.

Among the issues coming up for discussion at the Headlands meeting will be Selva Road.

The street currently crosses Pacific Coast Highway into the 122-acre Headlands property.

Officials are considering whether Selva should wrap around a proposed hotel and again connect to PCH farther down the highway.

The Headlands property is owned by M.H. Sherman Co. and Chandis Securities Co., a firm that oversees the financial holdings of the Chandler family, a major stockholder in Times Mirror Corp., which publishes the Los Angeles Times.

The companies want to build a hotel, commercial center and residential dwellings on the site.

Tonight’s meeting will be at 7 at City Hall, 33282 Golden Lantern.

The Thursday Headlands meeting will be at the same location at 6:30 p.m.
