Printronix Inc. Net Income Rises 41%

Printronix Inc. posted a 41% increase in third-quarter net income, while sales declined 4%.

The manufacturer of computer printers reported net income of $4.5 million, or 54 cents a share, for the fiscal quarter ended Dec. 26, up from $3.2 million, or 39 cents a share, a year earlier.

Sales declined to $42.5 million from $44.5 million. Printronix attributed the revenue drop to weak sales in Europe and the financial turmoil in Asian markets.

For the first nine months of fiscal 1998, net income rose 47% to $11.9 million, or $1.44 a share, from $8.1 million, or 98 cents a share, a year ago. Sales fell 4% to $127 million from $132.3 million.
