Scholarships at Stake in Pageant

Ten finalists will be featured in the Miss Placentia contest Jan. 24 in Valencia High School’s auditorium.

“Mission Placentia: Capturing the Crown” is the theme for the 7 p.m. scholarship pageant, featuring Christy Mann, 23, Miss Placentia 1997.

The contestants, who are high school and college students, will share in more than $4,800 in scholarships. The winner will represent the city during 1998.

The contest is the official local preliminary competition in the Miss California and Miss America pageants.
