Effort Made to Save Endangered Bird Art

Share

A collection of bird sculptures and mosaics at Seacliff Shopping Center will be the subject of a tour as officials seek corporate donations to save the artworks from demolition.

Mayor Shirley S. Dettloff, chairwoman of the Seacliff Public Art Committee, said the city needs $250,000 to remove the statues and mosaics. The center will be demolished this spring.

The artwork would be moved to the Civic Center and to a planned information center at the Bolsa Chica wetlands. The reception and tour will take place Jan. 29 at 4 p.m., starting at Pero’s restaurant, 2221 Main St.
