From Times Wire Reports

A former Argentine navy officer was freed from a Madrid jail without bail three months after he was arrested on charges of genocide for his role in Argentina’s “dirty war.” But former Lt. Cmdr. Adolfo Scilingo still faces charges in the case, his lawyer said. Scilingo went to Spain voluntarily to testify in an inquiry into the disappearance of 600 Spaniards during Argentina’s 1976-1983 war on leftists. Scilingo was imprisoned Oct. 10 after he admitted that he threw dissidents out of airplanes. The magistrate allowed him out without bail after he said he was unable to pay bail.
