A woman died this weekend after crashing into a parked van while trying to pass another vehicle on rain-slick Van Nuys Boulevard, authorities said Saturday.

The identity of the woman, whom Los Angeles police described as a 37-year-old Valley resident, was not released pending notification of her family, said police investigators.

The driver of the slower-moving car was also not identified. He complained of minor injuries at the scene but did not require hospital treatment, according to police.

“I don’t expect charges will be filed since the woman who caused the accident died,” said Officer Jim Curry of Valley Traffic Division.

The accident unfolded Friday during a wet evening commute, marked by slick roadways and limited visibility, according to police. The woman was driving westbound on Van Nuys when she tried to pass the other car at Canterbury Street, police said.

“She tried to pass and collided with him, and then he collided with a parked car, which was not occupied at the time,” Curry said. “Her car continued westbound and collided with a parked van, also unoccupied.”
