Rain Likely Through Tuesday Afternoon

The weekend showers may have ended temporarily Sunday, but rain is in the forecast tonight and will continue through Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.

“The rain is being provided by an area of low pressure coming from the San Francisco area and should reach Los Angeles by overnight Monday,” said Wes Etheredge, a meteorologist with Weatherdata Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low to mid-50s.

High temperatures today are expected to be 64 in Woodland Hills and Van Nuys, 63 in Chatsworth and 61 in Burbank. Lows are expected to be 52 throughout most of the San Fernando Valley.

Rain is expected to continue through Tuesday afternoon with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid-50s.

Etheredge said that an area of high pressure behind the exiting low-pressure system should bring clearing skies and a short break from the rain Wednesday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler with lows in the mid- to upper 40s and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

But increasing clouds on Thursday will bring with them a slight chance of rain with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the mid- to upper 40s, he said.

There’s a slight chance of rain Friday, with warmer temperatures with lows in the low 50s and highs in the low 60s, Etheredge said.
