Woman Dies in Collision With Allegedly Drunk Driver
An 18-year-old Saugus woman was killed early Sunday when the allegedly drunk driver of a sports-utility vehicle ran a red light and broadsided her car, authorities said.
Lauren Blaire was killed in the 1:45 a.m. crash at the intersection of Bouquet Canyon and Plum Canyon roads, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Daniel Castillo.
James Bent, 29, also of Saugus, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Bent, who is being held on a $1-million bond, suffered a broken hand in the crash and is being treated at the Twin Towers jail facility.
Driving an Acura Integra, Blaire was making a left turn from westbound Plum Canyon onto Bouquet Canyon when Bent, traveling northbound on Bouquet Canyon in a Toyota 4-Runner, ran the light, Castillo said.
