Young to Announce Assembly Candidacy
Port Hueneme Mayor Pro Tem Toni Young has planned a news conference today to announce her candidacy for the 37th District seat in the state Assembly.
Young, a five-year council veteran and the first woman in the city’s history to serve as mayor, is bidding to succeed Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard), who is being forced to step down because of term limits.
In a news release issued Tuesday, Young, a Republican, pledged to build a Southern California caucus of lawmakers whose goal would be to protect the region and focus the region’s legislative power.
Today’s news conference is scheduled for noon at Port Hueneme City Hall, 250 N. Ventura Road.
