Hall of Administration to Fly POW/MIA Flag
The black-and-white flag that has come to memorialize the nation’s prisoners of war and those missing in action will fly year-round over the county Hall of Administration.
The Board of Supervisors gave unanimous approval Tuesday for flying the POW/MIA flag, which also can be flown at other county buildings. The flag was donated by veterans activist Bob Kakuk. The county’s 264,000 veterans comprise the largest concentration of veterans in the country.
Board Chairman Jim Silva said the flag will fly to honor the nation’s men and women of the military.
The flag, depicting in silhouette a man’s profile, barbed wire and a guard tower, already is flown by the cities of Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, La Habra, Orange and Westminster.
