Latrell Sprewell, the former Golden State Warrior guard now serving a one-year NBA suspension for an attack on his coach, was cited last month for violating a curfew at Lake Chabot Park in Castro Valley, Calif.

Sprewell was found parked at 4:02 a.m. when he was cited Dec. 28, said Capt. Steve Krull, in charge of field operations for the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department. The parks close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Sprewell has until mid-February to pay a fine or request a hearing in Hayward-San Leandro Municipal Traffic Court.

“He can just pay a fine and it will be over and done with. It’s not a serious offense,” Krull said. “Had it been anything more than that, I would have heard something.”

Sprewell has a hearing scheduled for Jan. 27-29 in Portland, Ore., on his appeal of his contract termination by the Warriors and NBA suspension for his attack on Coach P.J. Carlesimo.

Chicago Bull guard Steve Kerr, the most accurate three-point shooter in NBA history, will be sidelined 6-8 weeks because of broken left collarbone.

Kerr, averaging 7.1 points per game, was injured during Thursday’s loss at Philadelphia when the 76ers’ Derrick Coleman landed on him after trying to contest his shot.

“It was a strange play,” Kerr said Friday. “It felt like he could have gotten out of the way. He landed right on top of me. I thought it could have been avoided, but you got to ask him.”

It was Kerr’s second injury this season. He sat out 10 games earlier with a bone bruise in his left knee.

“It’s been a tough season so far, but there’s still time to salvage it,” Kerr said. “I should be back mid-March, so that will give me a month or so to play. I’ll be all right.”

Doctors told Kerr it was a clean break in the middle of the collarbone and surgery would not be necessary.

The Bulls activated Rusty LaRue to replace Kerr.

Houston forward Charles Barkley won’t have to face trial on charges that he threw a man through a bar window until after the basketball season.

Orange County Judge C. Jeffrey Arnold on Friday delayed Barkley’s misdemeanor trial until July to accommodate the athlete’s playing schedule, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Barkley, 34, faces charges of disorderly conduct, battery, criminal mischief and resisting arrest without violence.
