Marina Lopez, 89, of Ventura; Retired Cook and Catering-Business Owner

Retired cook Marina Lopez of Ventura died Friday at her home.

She was 89.

Lopez was born Sept. 18, 1908, in Ventura and lived there her entire life.

After retiring from her job as a cook, she worked at Rexall Drugs and also owned a catering business.

She was a 30-year member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church parish and also belonged to the Guadalupanos Society at the San Buenaventura Mission.

From 1949 to 1962, Lopez was involved with Maria’s Burrito Booth at the Ventura County Fair.

Lopez is survived by her daughter, Mary Blanche Flores of Mission Hills, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura, with Father Larry Dowdel officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura, with the rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Interment will be in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
